I spend a lot of time writing for my little Blog mainly because I simply like writing.
Even though I have moved back to Dublin which I know really well having lived here a long time, it is still tricky to reconnect. Especially now, where we sometimes spend so much time on social media that the sense of connecting with people sometimes is not as it used to be. This, of course, as been completely exacerbated by COVID 19!
I like the sense of building and being part of a community that I feel my Blog gives me. Hopefully, my readers get this from it too!
There are lots of great Bloggers and Instagrammers out there. Here are some of my favourites:
Journalist on the Run
I thought I’d seen quite a bit of our wonderful planet, until I started following this lady on Instagram that is!
Janet Newenham is an Irish journalist who quit her job to travel the world in search of adventure, documenting her travels in her blog.
On her Blog, Janet shares the inspiration behind her big adventure:
“When I was younger, I can remember reading an inspirational story in a book called Chicken Soup for the Soul. The short story titled Another Check Mark On the List is about a 15-year-old boy named John who, on one rainy day, when it was too wet outside to play, decided to write a list of goals. John continued writing until he had 127 goals. These goals included exploring the Nile River, climbing the world’s highest mountains, read the entire works of Shakespeare and learning 3 foreign languages. He also wanted to milk a poisonous snake and ride an ostrich!………..After reading this story, I too decided, like many other people, to make a list of all the things I wanted to do/see/learn throughout my life.”
When the wind is howling and the rain bucketing down outside, looking at beautiful places always lifts my spirits.
Like Janet’s lovely shot in Capetown – it brought memories flooding back of an amazing backpacking trip I took around South Africa after I finished university. Capetown was awesome – abseiling off Table Mountain, climbing Signal Hill, a cycling tour of the Stellenbosch vineyards (I could write a whole article on that day!), the penguins on Boulder beach – great memories…….
I also love to day dream about the places I want to go and Journalist on the Run certainly gives me lots of ideas!
On Janet’s Blog you will find lots of travel tips on things like packing lightly, where and when to go, booking on travel sites etc.
I love this Blog – it appeals to my thirst for travel and also reminds me to not just dream about things I want to do but to make it happen!
Every Mum needs a Mum blogger to follow – someone who just gets it!
Dublin based Jenny is Mum to 3 year old Dylan and a working Mama.
On Jenny’s blog you will find her covering family days out, travelling, spa breaks, books and bargains. In Jenny’s Bio she also notes that she does honest reviews.
This post on JennysWorld made me laugh!
You can check out Jennysworld here:
Jennysworld is working on a Blog piece especially for Our Girls Gang which she will shortly be sharing with us so watch this space!
Love, love, love this lady’s sense of humour. She’s definitely someone I would want to share a bottle of wine and a few giggles with!
In her Instagram Bio she describes herself as “Actor, Writer, Person” – Amy shares images from her series Finding Joy, her daily life, her travels and her family and friends all with a big dollop of humour.
Had to share this too – made me laugh:
Amy is a very funny lady with a lovely big contagious smile. Check her out on Instagram to brighten up your day.
Corena is actually a good friend of mine. She is an avid reader and eats books!
The lovely Corena is currently undergoing a difficult journey – as she says in her Instagram Bio, she is
“reading my way through chemotherapy’.
I love to read and Corena is definitely the friend to go to for a book recommendation. This lady knows her books!
Thanks to Corena’s recommendation, I have this one next up on my reading list:
Check out Corenareads:
Corena is going to tag @joinourgirlsgang on her future posts I will share them on my Blog under a new “Book Club” feature so that we don’t miss out on any good reads. Thanks Corena!
Got to have a foodie blog to follow – who doesn’t love looking at pictures of yummy things!
Lilly is a food writer, blogger, photographer and chef. She has her own books and has appeared as a judge on The Great Irish Bake Off.
Lilly is a graduate of Ballymaloe Cookery School which is very close to where I grew up and an institution of that community.
I prefer baking to cooking myself and Lilly has lots of lovely looking baking posts on her blog and instagram. I find her food practical with a focus on fresh ingredients – a good combination I think.
So, if you can’t think what to make for dinner, check out Lilly’s Blog:
or you can follow Lilly on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lilly_higgins_/
I also like (another friend of mine!) following:
The lovely Lorraine takes drool worthy photos of her lovely creations. Lorraine is teaming up with Our Girls Gang for an upcoming collaboration – coming soon……..
